Shortly after I finished my daughter’s room for the one-room-challenge my 9 yr old son started asking when I was going to work on his room! Technically, we had his room painted and done when we first moved in, but my little guy was feeling like some things were missing. Specifically a comfortable spot to read. He is a huge reader. He is currently reading the Warrior series of books and loving them. And just like his Momma, he likes to read in bed.
So when my fellow bloggers and I decided that “fabric” would be our #12monthsofDiy project and Online Fabric Store was helping us out with our project, I knew I needed to make a Reading Pillow for my little guy. I had him go online and choose the fabric (I had veto power) and I think he picked the perfect fabric to go with the rest of his room.
The instructions on making the pillow are pretty simple. It was just a simple stitch all the way around leaving one end open to stuff with some cheap pillow inserts that I had picked up at Walmart. And finally I hand stitched the opening. The entire thing took me maybe 30 minutes.
And now, I present you a Reading Pillow fit for a book worm of a 9 yr old.
On top is his pillow that he sleeps on!
I made the Reading Pillow so that it’s about 2/3 of the length of his headboard. He sleeps on a Twin-and-half bed.
He has been using it for the last couple of months and he loves it!
I still have a bunch of things he would like to do, but for now I think he is loving hanging out in his room again.
Now it’s time to see the rest of the DIY fabric project ideas from my Canadian blogging friends.
