Happy New Year!
I hope you all had a lovely few weeks of celebrating with those you love. I took an unexpected break from blogging in December, when I over scheduled myself and blogging just got really low on my to-do list. I had planned on sharing our Christmas tree, but when I tumbled into it a few weeks before Christmas and it all came tumbling down. I pulled some shoulder and back muscles during my fall, after that I just couldn’t be bothered to make it look perfect again. I did post it on Instagram though, just to prove that there was a tree. Here is a fuzzy picture…
And just to prove that I did do a little more decorating, here is the advent calendar that I put together. That ladder will be getting a make over soon or rather getting actually finished up. Again a fuzzy picture from Instagram.
A couple of days before New Years Eve I started to put away my Christmas Stuff. Not everything, just a couple of items here and there. I didn’t want too many questions from the kids, nor did I really want to move too much. But as soon as I woke up on New Year’s day, I was at it and on a mission to get it all put away! I dragged all the storage bins from the basement and one by one filled them all up. At one point, I’m pretty sure, I gave hubby a heart attack when I said “maybe I should just donate everything and start fresh next year with less items!” I didn’t really mean it, but at the moment as I was surrounded in flying glitter and a few broken ornaments, it just all seemed too much. So I did what I do every year, complained that I have too much, and then packed it all way for next year. The crazy thing is I haven’t bought anything in the last few years. Sure, I’ve made a couple decor items (here and here), and have been gifted a few more nutcrackers, but it’s all the same stuff, year after year. And the kids look forward to seeing them every year. Maybe I will hold on to all my decorations and gift them to the kids when they move out! (insert evil laugh here)
Right now, I’m enjoying a “quieted house”. I haven’t brought out the decor items that I had put away while Christmas decor was out. My mantel is really really “quiet”. Only a candle holder. I’m kinda liking it like that. But I’m sure soon enough I will get the itch to add something more to it.
Our basement is almost completed now, and just needs to be decorated. Can’t wait to show you. The last door knob was put in place the day before we had over 30 people in our house for a Christmas open house. Next up, we will start a basement bathroom. More dust, flying through my house. 😉
I have a few more things I want to share with you , but I think I’ve rambled on enough for today. I will be back tomorrow to share some goals for 2016 and also an announcement.
